5D Robotics Unmanned Systems Project Engineer takes R&D concepts from prototype to design implementation, test, and flight operations. You will be responsible for the rapid design, prototyping, implementation, test, and deployment support. This position also requires deep understanding of sUAS platforms, technologies, and roadmaps for the industry.

Requirements:

  • B.S. Engineering Degree with minimum 3-5 years experience – preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience with unmanned aerial systems (UAS), preferably small unmanned aerial systems
  • Experience with a wide variety of flight controllers & autopilots
  • Experience with consumer and commercial sUAS – preferred
  • Experience designing for UAS – including payload and airframe design
  • Rapid prototyping experience
  • Highly organized
  • Design and CAD experience – Solidworks preferred
  • Experience in bringing a UAS to market – preferred
  • Experience in industrial and product design – preferred
  • C++ programming experience – preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Drive projects from concept to completion – both internal and external projects
  • Work closely with the software development team and product team throughout the design process.
  • Become SME for commercial sUAS platforms and applications
  • Assist test and operations teams with product testing and deployment
  • Create reports and document findings
  • Drive test and validation requirements through the design process

Work with management to define, develop, and execute product roadmap milestones
